The Col.legi d'Arquitectes (COAIB) of Mallorca is the setting chosen by Andreu World and Editorial Gustavo Gili to present Chairs, a book that reviews the master creations that have marked a before and after in the history of design and, same time, of humanity. Anatxu Zabalbeascoa, throughout 16 chapters, walks us through the chairs of the industrial age as the famous chairs in Tonet series, manifesto chairs like those of Gerrit Th. Rietveld and Mies van der Rohe, or the chairs of technological ostentation and postmodernist formalist, where they stand out by their own names such as those of Frank O. Gehry, Philippe Starck or Jasper Morrison.
"The chair is the most designed object of the modern era. And, nevertheless, it is also the one that continues to be designed ... the chair is a value in itself. That is why its story summarizes, in turn, the history of design." Anatxu Zabalbeascoa.
The presentation of the book Chairs, History of the Chair, will be held at COAIB of Mallorca on June 7th at 7 pm and will feature the lecture of the Mallorcan historian, Isabel del Río. That same afternoon, an exhibition will open where Andreu World will exhibit the most iconic designs signed by internationally renowned designers and architects such as Patricia Urquiola, Jasper Morrison, Lievore Altherr Molina and Piergiorgio Cazzaniga.
