The Jury of the International Design Contest is being fulfilled with new names such as Brandon Gien. He is the CEO of Good Design Australia and President of the annual Australian Good Design Awards. Brandon is also President Emeritus of the World Design Organization (WDO), the world body for industrial design. He was a member of the Board of Directors and was elected President of the organization from 2013 to 2015, the first Australian to occupy this position.
During his tenure as WDO President, he led the organization's strategic transformation, resulting in a new name, a new vision and mission, and a new global definition of Industrial Design. Through his work on the WDO Executive Board, he helped establish the World Design Impact Prize and World Design Medal in honor of industrial designers who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the profession.
He has spent the last 25 years passionately defending the value of design
to improve the quality of social, economic, cultural and environmental life. He is currently an adjunct professor of design at the University of Canberra and an adjunct professor of industrial design at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
He is currently the Chairman of the World Design Capital Selection Committee
, appointed every two years by the World Design Organization to recognize cities for their effective use of design to drive economic, social, cultural and environmental development, among which is Valencia, which will be the World Capital of Design in 2022.
