Andreu World has participated as a business promoter of the Capital in 2022. At the end of July, the city of Valencia received the World Design Organization committee. During their visit, the WDO committee - based in Montreal - participated in a meeting at the Marina de Empresas, one of the largest entrepreneurship centers in the Mediterranean, in which Andreu World was present supporting the candidacy of the city as World Design Capital for 2022.
In addition to learning about the city's link with design, history and architecture, the committee members were able to learn about Andreu World, as an international brand of designer furniture, sharing some details about its commitment to sustainability, innovation, quality, manufacturing culture and commitment to disseminate the culture of design and young talent with initiatives such as the International Design Contest.
This visit comes weeks after WDO officially invited companies and designers to demonstrate how they apply design to projects that improve production while promoting sustainable consumption worldwide. Andreu World joined the challenge, celebrating World Industrial Design Day
with the sustainable Nuez chair, by designer Patricia Urquiola
An enveloping, suggestive and warm design born from the idea of creating a seat that folds like a sheet of paper. The injected thermopolymer shell is expressed as a flexible surface that hugs the body when sitting.
In the case of Nuez, sustainability focuses on materials, all of them 100% recyclable
. Its production process has been specifically worked to optimize the use of materials, which saves energy and reduces waste disposal. Two certifications, the BIFMA LEVEL
regulations and eco-design guarantee their manufacturing through minimal impact processes and the environmental footprint.
July has been so important for the Valencia World Capital Design project because of the WDO team’s visit to meet with the candidates and authorities. The purpose of the visit was to experience first-hand everything included in the report presented by the Associació València Capital del Disseny in the candidate city application and learn about the support of companies and civil society.
The decision will be announced next October
at the next World Design Organization meeting.
