One of the main events to take place at the Andreu World stand in Milan was the presentation of the new "Nub" collection, created by Patricia Urquiola and composed of an attractive line of sofas and chairs with natural wood structures and which offer multiple structure/upholstery color combinations.

The internationally-renowned Asturian designer was on hand to explain all the project’s details to the international press and journalists from major magazines and media from the sector who gathered at the Milan stand to discover her new creations first hand.

According to the designer, the Nub collection is the result of sophisticated cabinet-making, update with great care in a contemporary manner. Urquiola explained that the project’s essential is represented no so much by the cylindrical rods that characterize the design, but rather the pleasant widening of the bars in the backrest at the height of the lumbar region.

With regard to the creative process, Patricia Urquiola told those present that “Nub is an emotive object, an element of my memory located in the context of my infancy, when I used to play with the bobbins that my grandmother used when she was making lace. These small wooden bars were playmates, which I have revised and redesigned in order to provide a base for the search for successive typologies. I always incorporate my domestic, private and past lives into my projects”.

The presentation of the Nub collection coincided with the awarding of the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts to the Asturian architect and designer, an event which was also echoed by the press gathered at the Milan stand. This award, granted by the Council of Ministers, is one of the most important awards granted to creative artists in Spain.
